Mashed Sweet Potatoes

There is so much I love about these delicious sweet potatoes! Pair them with salmon or chicken and you cannot go wrong. Add a side of your favorite green vegetable and dinner is complete!

These mashed sweet potatoes are seasoned with maple syrup, cinnamon, salt and pepper which really just add the perfect touch and satisfy your taste buds. You can season them however you like. Some people choose not to add pepper and some may choose to go heavier on the maple syrup and cinnamon if they like their mashed sweet potatoes a little bit sweeter, but this particular vegetable can already come sweet naturally by itself.

I am a big sweet potato fan. I love making sweet potato pies, sweet potato fries, smoothies with sweet potatoes…you cannot go wrong with this vegetable! That’s why when I make this mashed potato recipe, I like to leave some extra cooked sweet potato for other foods or desserts I can make, and have throughout the week, like the ones I just mentioned above. There’s just so much variety!

For this recipe, I choose to add unsalted butter. If you add salted butter then just remember you might not need as much salt added later on.

If you are vegan, you can add vegan butter and use almond milk or any kind of plant based milk.
