Notes

  • Deli-style ham or chicken may be used in place of turkey.

What you’ll need to make these sliders are some Hawaiian sweet rolls. Hawaiian sweet rolls offer a wonderful punch of sweetness. They help to balance out the saltiness of the other ingredients. For this recipe, you’ll also need some thinly sliced deli half a point of Turkey, half a pound of thinly sliced Swiss cheese (or you can use another cheese that you like, such as pepper jack), 8 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard, 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise, salt, black pepper, and 2 tablespoons of oregano. Italian seasoning can be used in place of oregano.

To get started on making these, preheat your oven to 350°F/177°C. Next, spray a 9×13 inch pan cooking spray. Assemble the bottom part of the Hawaiian rolls down in one layer, then layer on the turkey and the cheese. Place on the top half of the rolls. Then, pour on the melted butter mixture. Make sure the butter drips down between the rolls and to the bottom of the pan. Next, use a basting brush or a spoon to spread it on evenly. This helps the rolls to get nice and coated.

Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
This time frame helps the cheese to melt properly while keeping the Hawaiian rolls soft. If you want your Hawaiian rolls to be slightly crunchy, then bake them for about 30 to 35 minutes. That time frame will give them the most perfect crunch! It should be noted that butter can brown pretty quickly and burn. That is why covering it with aluminum foil helps it not brown so quickly. You want the rolls to look pretty and presentable!

After 25 minutes remove the sliders from the oven. Allow them to rest for at least 5 minutes. This helps them to set. Do not worry! They will still be warm when you take a bite. Don’t try them too soon. You don’t want the gooey swiss cheese to burn your tongue!

Serve these either by themselves, with chips or french fries. Even a side salad would suffice. Hopefully, you enjoy these quick and easy Turkey and Swiss Sliders and keep them in your rotation! Happy Cooking!
