Making this burger has never been easier. Just be sure to lay out your ingredients ahead of time. That way, once your burgers are finished cooking, you can add your prepared toppings and eat them while they’re still juicy and warm. In just about 20 minutes, from prep to finish, you can be enjoying your Mushroom Swiss Burger!

This recipe is written to make well done burger patties. However, cook them for a minute or two less on each side depending on how you like your burger done. Just be sure that the internal temperature of the burgers reaches at least 120°F to be able to be safely eaten.

If you’re making these for a larger crowd, I suggest that you make them cooked to different temperatures depending on how people like their burgers. If someone prefers medium, then cook some burgers to medium doneness. If someone prefers medium well, then make a couple burgers medium well. That way, everybody’s palate will be pleased and they’ll have options.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons 2 unsalted butter

  • 1 pound 1 ground beef

  • 1 teaspoon 1 Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 4 slices 4 Swiss cheese

  • 1 cup 1 sliced mushrooms

  • 4 4 brioche hamburger buns

  • Lettuce, sliced tomato and onion

  • Other toppings of choice

Directions

  • For the Burgers:
  • In a large bowl, season ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Shape into equal-sized patties.
  • Next, in a large skillet, over medium-high, heat 1 tablespoon butter. Add hamburger patties and sear for 6 to 7 minutes per side.
  • Add Swiss cheese to patties and cook until melted to your liking.
  • Remove burgers from the skillet and set aside.
  • For the Mushrooms:
  • In the same skillet, add remaining tablespoon of butter and cook the mushrooms for about 4 to 5 minutes, until tender.
  • Finally, assemble burgers on buns with toppings. Serve and Enjoy!

Why Use Swiss Cheese?

Swiss cheese is a wonderful option for this burger since it adds just a mildly flavorful taste. It’s not too overpowering for this burger at all. Swiss cheese also melts well. Using Swiss cheese helps the mushrooms to stand out and amp up the flavors of the burger.

To make a well seasoned burger patty, I like to mix garlic powder, salt and pepper in the meat. When you season your ground beef, be careful to not overwork it. If you are using pre-shaped hamburger patties, then there is no need to season and reshape the meat. Simply seasoning the outside of each patty works just fine. It will still be flavorful and the other ingredients will help the beef to stand out. Then, sear or grill them. It’s just that easy!

After the burgers are cooked, set them aside for a couple minutes to rest. Then, make the mushrooms in the same skillet. That way, the mushrooms will get the same flavor and seasoning on it as the burgers. Once those are done, assemble your burgers and enjoy! Hopefully you enjoy making this recipe and keep it in your recipe rotation. Happy Cooking!!
