A lot of popular coffee chains can make a delicious Chai Latte. The only problem is that they contain a lot of sugar. That makes it taste good, but it is not good for us. Those types of chai lattes satisfy our cravings for the moment, but then we can experience a crash shortly after. There are a few coffee shops where I have not experienced a crash from their chai lattes, but that has been few and far between.

Notes

  • Oat milk works well for this recipe.

This recipe does not use heaping amounts of granulated sugar. The only sweetener used is pure maple syrup. This Homemade Chai Latte recipe satisfies your cravings, without the added sugar crash. It has just the right amount of spice and sweetness.

You might also feel better knowing that the amount of money you spend at your local coffee shop on just one Chai Latte, can make you about 10 chai lattes at home. So, if you’re an avid chai drinker like me, you can make these in the comfort of your own home. That sounds like a good way to save some money, right?

This is truly a drink that you can enjoy in any season. My favorite way to drink it is warm. It makes me feel so cozy! However, if the weather is too hot right now, then make it iced! It is really good that way.

So, let’s get into how to make this. This recipe makes enough for 2 servings. To make this you will need: 2 cups milk (any kind), 2 black tea bags, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon ground ginger, ½ teaspoon cloves, and 2 tablespoons maple syrup. That sounds like a pretty good combination, right? Of course, you can play around with the spice measurements a bit. This is the way that fits my palate. Everybody I have made this for has said that they think the measurements are great for their palate as well.

Be mindful that black tea does contain caffeine. So, if you cannot tolerate caffeine, then you won’t want to use this recipe. Black tea does not contain nearly as much caffeine as a regular cup of coffee, but it can bring about some effects if you have a caffeine intolerance. Fortunately, I can handle caffeine in small doses.

To make this, simply heat the milk on the stove. Then add in the tea bags and steep them for 5 minutes. Take them out and add the spices and maple syrup. Serve it and enjoy! That’s quick, right?

Something that makes Chai Lattes even prettier is frothing some milk and pouring it on top. I don’t have a milk frother, but now I’m going to get one to level up my lattes! I hope you enjoy this quick, easy, and spicy recipe!
