Quick Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Get your taste buds ready because just one bite of these Dreamy Creamy Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups and you’re already thinking about your next one. This was a fun and very easy treat to make. Everyone is familiar with the actual Reese’s cup. It has been around for over 90 years and is still going strong. And, I found out it was an accident discovery. And, a very delicious accident I might add.

It seems every year, especially around the holidays, there is usually a clever Reese’s Peanut Butter candy, shaped perfectly, into a Christmas tree, a Valentine’s heart, or an Easter bunny.  A very clever way to promote a simple candy treat. I prefer the original round ones because the cutouts seem a little thicker than I like my Reese’s cup to be. You may like the thickness of the cutouts.  It is a personal preference. I like the two in a pack because they are just the right size to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Notes

  • This recipe yields 6 chocolate peanut butter cups.

I like this recipe because you still get the satisfaction, without all of the many preservatives that the original candy treat offers. Although, after making your own, Reese’s cups might be an occasional grab treat. There is nothing like tasting milk chocolate and creamy peanut butter merged together in one bite. And, if you are like me, and love the union of the two ingredients merged together, then this recipe will stay in your rotation. This Dreamy Creamy recipe calls for five simple ingredients. Of course, you will need the main staples-chocolate and peanut butter. I added vanilla extract, powdered sugar and a pinch of salt.

Once all ingredients are mixed together, it is time to layer your peanut butter cup. I used cupcake liners and placed them in a cupcake pan. It is a simple three-step process. I put the chocolate in the bottom of the cupcake liner, then added the peanut butter in the center and covered the top layer with chocolate. Simple right?  Easy as 1-2-3.

This is a fun recipe to get family involved. Kids love using their hands. And, they love having a sense of satisfaction that they were involved in some way. And, it is not a messy recipe. Gooey perhaps, but not messy. Definitely worth the 15 minutes of prep time spent in the kitchen. The peanut butter cups should be refrigerated for about 45 minutes to an hour. I truly hope the little ones will have patience for this treat to set. Perhaps you can distract them and maybe even yourself with a fun trivia game. Being a kid once myself, patience wasn’t always at the top of my list, but somehow, I managed. I know your kids will too.

Once the chocolate peanut butter cups are ready, your taste buds will be anxiously awaiting their Dreamy Creamy Goodness. I say enjoy every creamy morsel. I believe that once you get a taste of your own homemade ones, you might get a little hooked on making your very own which may include a fun cutout or two. I won’t tell. Why should kids have all the fun?

Enjoy!
