The Perfect Omelet

Let’s make a delicious omelet! Omelets are one of the easiest breakfast foods to make. A good skill to have is knowing how to make a perfect omelet.

Allow me to teach you how to make the most perfect omelet. I like to use 3 whole eggs, meaning the yolk and the whites, but you can certainly use this recipe and only use egg whites instead of whole eggs. Beat the eggs together with salt and pepper.

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • salt and pepper, to taste

  • splash of milk (optional)

  • toppings of choice

Directions

  • In a medium bowl, beat eggs together and season with salt and pepper.
  • Next, melt butter in a medium non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  • Pour egg mixture in skillet and tilt pan so eggs cover entire bottom of pan.
  • Let eggs set for about 3 minutes. Then, use a rubber spatula to drag the edges into the pan’s center.
  • Once the bottom is firming up, sprinkle any toppings of choice in the center of the omelet.
  • Fold over in half and slide on a plate to serve and enjoy.

Omelets that are fluffy almost with a pillow-like texture are the best ones. An ingredient that I like to use sometimes for a fluffy, easy-to-make omelet is…milk! Yes, it’s milk! Just a splash is all you need. And you’ll notice that it makes a nice fluffy omelet. If you don’t have milk, you can also use a little bit of water. However, milk is best.

Then, you’ll want to pour the egg mixture into your buttered skillet. Let it sit until you see that the edges start to set around the pan. As soon as they start to set, take a rubber spatula and slide it around the outside of the eggs. Then, push the outer parts of the omelet to the center.

Now, you can start to put on toppings of your choice. Making an omelet is truly a process of love and what you put in your omelet is entirely up to you. Whatever toppings you want in it, add them! Sometimes I have no toppings and sometimes I just add a bit of cheese. I like to use shredded cheddar cheese, but pepper jack cheese is great too!

Once the toppings are on, fold one half of the omelet over the other half and let it cook for another minute. Then, slide it onto a plate and dig in! It’s as easy as pie! There is not much more to say about such a quick recipe. I can only tell you that once you learn how to make a perfect omelet, you will have a hard time eating an imperfect one! I hope that this recipe could give you an easy guide on how to make the perfect omelet. Enjoy your breakfast!

  1. If you add pepper to the mix, the resulting omelet will have the pepper at the bottom. It’s better to add pepper to the finished omelet.
