If I am going to sell you on just how good these are, I guess I should start by telling you how these salmon burgers came to be. It all started on a lazy Sunday afternoon after grocery shopping. If you are anything like me, then you do not like to spend time in the grocery store and then have to go home and make a full meal. Upon arriving home hungry, I figured I would just heat up some of the previous night’s salmon leftovers.

Now, I was not too excited about this since I did not want to eat the same food I just had the night before. I wanted something different. I got the bright idea of making salmon burgers. In addition to the salmon, I had the buns, I had some fresh dill and scallions and I had the seasonings. All the ingredients formed into something beautiful and just like that, a star was born.

Growing up, my mom used to always make my family salmon cakes, (one of her favorite meals) using canned salmon. We had it with peas and mashed potatoes a lot of the time. After I made my salmon burgers for the first time, I gave her the first bite. She was over the moon!

I have since made these delicious salmon burgers countless times and have perfected them with some homemade coleslaw. This coleslaw comes together in no time. After flaking the salmon, I threw together  the coleslaw by using some shredded cabbage, celery seed, mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, and pepper. Sounds pretty easy right? And of course as easy as it is, it is even more delicious!

These are not too fishy and just like salmon or regular burgers, they can either be baked, grilled or seared. Since the salmon is precooked, just cook these patties for about 3 minutes on each side. You want them seared just enough so that they do not fall apart. I prefer the searing method. If you like sweet potato fries, then I suggest that you pair some with these salmon burgers. This pairing does not disappoint! A nice cold glass of Pinot Grigio works wonders with this meal.

If you are a salmon lover like I am, then I hope these burgers fit into your Google definition of “Love.”  My family is IN LOVE with these burgers and it is for sure a treat when I make them. Topped with a heaping pile of coleslaw, this salmon burger is the ideal burger for you. If you are looking for a lighter burger option, go with this one. I hope you enjoy these delicious Salmon Burgers!

Happy Cooking!
