Chocolate Chip Cookies

Here’s a classic recipe for you to make. Chocolate Chip Cookies are perfect for any and every occasion! They’re easy to whip up in a pinch too. So, if you enjoy a good chocolate chip cookie, then keep reading along!

Do you know just how chocolate chip cookies came to be? Well, they were an accident. Yes, an accident! And, a happy one, at that. American chef and owner of the Toll House restaurant, Ruth Wakefield unintentionally came up with the recipe back in 1938. She wanted to make chocolate flavored cookies. Thinking that the chocolate chips would melt into the cookies, she added plenty throughout the dough. However, the bite-sized chocolates did not melt how she intended. They came out of the oven as the famous chocolate chip cookies that we know today. So, thank you Ruth Wakefield for your clever mistake! Because of you, our palates and tummies are full and happy!

Alright. Now, back to this particular chocolate chip cookie recipe. Much like Ruth Wakefield’s, this chocolate chip cookie recipe has the perfect chocolate chip-to-dough ratio. With each bite, you’ll get a few melted chocolate chips in your mouth along with the soft golden dough of the cookie. How’s that for a sweet combination? It’s truly scrumptious!

This recipe makes enough to make 24 medium-sized cookies. You can make even more cookies by making them smaller. These chocolate chip cookies are soft and in my option, they’re best when eaten warm. Oh! And, don’t forget that tall glass of milk.

My advice when making these is to make sure your ingredients are at room temperature. However, it is most important for your butter to be soft. That way, it can evenly distribute throughout the cookie dough.

  1. This recipe has way too much sugar…just follow the original Nestle Toll House cookie recipe that calls for 3/4 cup brown sugar, 3/4 cup sugar, 12 oz package chocolate chips. All other ingredient portions are correct.
