The two ingredients you need are ice cream and espresso/coffee. Just be sure that the ice cream you use is your favorite flavor and the coffee is hot and strongly brewed! If you’re a coffee lover and have tried an Affogato before, then you don’t want to miss making this recipe.

I first had an Affogato in college and I’m so glad that I did. To be honest, I had no idea what an Affogato was before that day. Someone in front of me in line at the coffee shop ordered one and raved to me about just how good it was. So, I just knew that I had to order one.

When it was my time to order, the barista explained to me that I could choose any ice cream flavor I wanted. I decided to go with French vanilla. That felt like a safe flavor. I wanted to ease my way into trying this drink with a relatively “safe” ice cream flavor. I knew I liked vanilla-flavored coffee. So, why not go with vanilla ice cream? Pistachio and Cherries Jubilee were also ice cream options. However, I was not sure if I would like such unique flavors with my coffee. In no less than 5 minutes after ordering, my drink was ready. And, boy, oh, boy!

Upon taking my first sip I can almost swear that I was in another world. That could partly be because I am such a foodie. Seriously! This drink was creamy and the French vanilla ice cream helped to balance out the strong notes of the espresso. From then on, that drink became my go-to treat from that particular shop! I’m so glad I decided to take that leap that day.
