When I was young, my mother would take me grocery shopping on Sundays. We would shop around the aisles for some of our family favorites. We bought chips, fruit snacks, different meats for the week, and of course, school lunch staples. Before checking out, my mother would march right up to the deli counter and order deli-style sliced turkey for the week’s lunchbox sandwiches.

My favorite lunch that my mother packed for me as a child was a turkey sandwich with a bag of chips, a juice box, and a brownie for dessert. Of course, my mom urged me to have some healthy snacks inside such as celery and carrots sticks. However, the turkey sandwich was what I truly looked forward to. Alright, enough reminiscing. Let’s get to making this delicious Deli-Style Turkey Sandwich, shall we?

The ingredients that you will need to make this recipe are 2 slices of your favorite bread, 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of spicy mustard, dried oregano, 4 ounces of sliced turkey (homemade or deli-style), 2 slices of provolone cheese, green leaf lettuce and 3 slices of tomato.

To make this sandwich, you can use either a homemade turkey breast that you slice or, you can pick some up from the deli. For the photos posted to this blog, I used homemade sliced turkey breast. It worked out perfectly for this sandwich. I do however recommend that you stay away from pre-packaged turkey breast meat.

Turkey can tend to be a bit dry, so it is best to add some moisture to this sandwich. That is why the bread gets a delicious spread. To get started on making this, first, mix the mayonnaise, mustard, and oregano. Spread the mixture on both slices of bread. Next, assemble the sandwich with sliced turkey, provolone cheese, green leaf lettuce, and sliced tomatoes. Finally, slice it and serve it to yourself!

Now, take a bite. Does it taste delicious to you? Do you like the spread? Does it add enough moisture to the sandwich? It certainly should! As you can tell, this recipe is easy to make and even more fun to eat. Enjoy making this for your lunch and creating sweet, sweet memories!
