Have you ever made your own croutons before? Were you successful? If so, then you’ll know just how easy they are to make! And, if not, then hopefully this recipe will help you to easily make them.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

For this recipe, only a few ingredients are needed. What you will need is 1 loaf of cubed french bread, ⅓ cup of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, ½ teaspoon of paprika, ½ teaspoon of garlic powder, salt, and pepper, to taste.

HOW TO MAKE:

To make these Croutons, first, preheat your oven to 375°F/190°C. Next, in a large bowl, add olive oil, Italian seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. I find it easier to add the oil and seasonings to the bowl and then toss in the bread cubes. After tossing in the bread cubes, spread them out on a baking sheet and bake them for 10 minutes per side (20 minutes total). Remove them from the oven. And, finally, serve and enjoy them with some soup or a salad.

  • 1/3 cup olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F/190°C.
  • In a large bowl, add olive oil, Italian seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  • Add bread cubes and toss to coat evenly.
  • Spread on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes PER side (20 minutes total.)
  • Remove from oven. Serve and Enjoy with salad or soup.

My favorite way to enjoy these Homemade Croutons is in a big salad with lots of freshly chopped vegetables and some homemade vinaigrette. Also, if you’re feeling especially adventurous in the kitchen, feel free to make your bread completely from scratch. Premade bread from the store just tends to be quicker for me to use.

SIZE:

Big croutons are extremely pleasing to the eye. That’s why I tend to stick with larger cubes of bread when making croutons. If you prefer smaller croutons, then simply cut your bread into smaller cubes.

Surely you can see that with this recipe, you have quite a bit of leeway. Hopefully, you enjoy making these yummy Homemade Croutons and pair them with your favorites. As always, Happy Cooking!! And, of course, Happy Crunching!
