The Easiest Impossible Burgers

This impossible burger was definitely not impossible to eat…and it surely was not impossible to finish. Trust me on this one. For the longest time, I have thought about trying to make meatless burgers whenever I would see the Impossible “meat” in the grocery store. However, I ended up always putting it off and stayed true to real ground beef like the true meat lover that I am. To tell you that I was hesitant to try meatless ground “beef” would be an understatement.

  • Cook the burger patties on medium-high for 4 minutes per side. (Cook them in the same skillet as you cooked the onions and mushrooms. There no need to add extra oil.)

You already know that I am a meat lover for sure. Lately, I have been more open to meatless meals. I have been enjoying cooking vegetarian meals for my family and they have been enjoying eating the meals so much. I wanted to make something that I knew we all could enjoy, so I decided to make a couple of Impossible burgers. I only made two large ones just in case we did not like them. And honestly, I regret only making two and not making any more. These burgers were just sooo delicious. I could eat another one… or two… or maybe even three right now.

Typically when I make burgers, I place the meat in a big bowl and season it to my liking. That way, the meat gets generously seasoned throughout. For this day however, I decided to simply shape the impossible meat into two patties. I chose to keep it simple this particular time so I could really get a good grasp on what the impossible meat tasted like. I then generously seasoned both sides of each patty with kosher salt and black pepper. These two seasonings were all that I needed to make this taste flavorful. However, you can certainly use a burger seasoning if you prefer. It for sure did not disappoint.  What helped to give the burger patties extra flavor was the fact that they were cooked in the same skillet after I cooked the onions and mushrooms.

Mushrooms are typically something that you either love or hate. Very rarely is there any in between. I am a mushroom lover for sure and have been that way for as long as I can remember. For these burgers, I chose to saute some caramelized white onions and baby Bella mushrooms together to use as a delicious burger topping. Let me tell you, that this was the most perfect decision to make regarding the taste of these impossible burgers. This mixture of sautéed mushrooms and caramelized white onions helped to complement the meat just perfectly. I found that using this as a topping helped to amp up the flavors even more.

I like to make my burger patties pretty large, so you can either make 2 large patties like I did, or 4 medium sized patties. This great thing about this impossible meat is that since it is not real ground beef, it does not shrink up in the pan. So, whatever size you make your patties, you can guarantee that they will remain the same size from start to finish. To finish off the dish, place the patties on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, and the onion and mushroom topping. It’s that simple! So, if you are looking for a meatless dish to try, then go with this one. You just might be pleasantly surprised! Enjoy your meatless burger!
