Ube Milkshake

Have you ever had Ube ice cream? It is pronounced “ooh-bae” and you will Ooh and Aww over this milkshake treat. Well, I did when I attended my first cousin’s wedding in Texas in June 2014. His wife’s family is from the Philippines and she introduced my cousin and his mom, my aunt, years ago, to her favorite ice cream. They, in turn, spread the creamy goodness and introduced me to it, when I visited them. I was hooked from the very first taste!

Just to give you a little background about Ube ice cream because I hope that you fall in love with this Ube Milkshake. I made it just for you using Ube ice cream. Ube ice cream originated from the Philippines in the early 1900s with its main ingredient, Ube, the purple yam.

You might be wondering: Is it really that good? No, it’s not Good, It’s Great! It is so creamy with just the right amount of sweetness and a little starch that you will certainly want another one. The pretty light purple color alone catches your eye. I am very visual and I like to look at pretty things. I always have, which is probably why I love to paint. I can look at a painting and replicate it with all of my many colors in my artist’s painting palette. It is a stress reducer for me. I might be painting with one hand while drinking an Ube milkshake with the other.

Yes, I am a multi-tasker. That’s the beauty of holding a delicious drink in one hand while using the other hand to do something else fun, whether you’re holding the remote control, trying to find something on Netflix, or digging into a tub of popcorn with the other hand. Yes, that is multitasking at its best!

This Ube milkshake is not only delicious, but it takes less than five minutes to make. Yes, as simple as that. In fact, I think I will treat myself to another one. Now, I feel inspired to pull out my canvas and paint exactly what I am about to devour. Enjoy every single Slurp!
